Let’s Play Thinglink!

Reflection:

04/25/2015

I had quite a bit more confidence creating this video than I did on the last one. The assignment was to explore Web 2.0 tools and demonstrate one I liked. I discovered a plethora of online tools that I am sure will be useful in training leadership in the construction workforce!

I chose to exhibit Thinglink because I could use it to showcase many of my discoveries – I wasn’t limited to just one tool! I got to experiment with a lot of different tools that expand my potential to reach the diverse interests of construction workers. This experience ignited my interest in multi-media and interactive teaching, and it increased my confidence in the effectiveness of technology as a learning tool. I was absorbed by this assignment – I even went as far as to produce a Youtube tutorial for Thinglink that I embedded into my demo.

Prior to this assignment, I had reservations about using technology in training construction workers – we are a “hands-on” culture – and we tend to shy from anything academic. But I’ve learned that technology offers far more than presentation tools! Technology allows learning to become self-directed and, with the right tools, it can make learning intuitive through“hand-on” experience! I look forward to implementing some of these tools in real-world applications!
